I’ve been keeping MuMu Emulator running in the background a lot lately. By default, it runs on the discrete GPU, and unfortunately there’s no option in its own settings to choose which GPU to use. The problem is that my discrete GPU is configured with an automatic fan stop/start feature. When MuMu runs in the background, the GPU temperature slowly rises, eventually hitting the threshold where the fans suddenly spin up with a loud *whoosh*. After cooling down, they stop again—over and over. It’s noisy and annoying. So I spent some time tinkering and forced MuMu to run on the integrated GPU instead. After all, the iGPU is just sitting there idle anyway 🐶

In the end, I opted for the simplest, most affordable solution: using Windows' built-in wireless display feature to transform this old Surface 3 into a secondary screen.

After installing Windows 11 LTSC, I noticed that the OneDrive icon in the File Explorer sidebar wasn’t working properly. Clicking on it did nothing, and the properties page was completely blank. A quick search revealed that this is an old Microsoft bug. When you install the personal version of OneDrive on the LTSC version of Windows, the installer fails to register the path value pointing to the OneDrive folder for the sidebar icon, resulting in it pointing to a null value. I guess it’s just classic Microsoft—years later, and this bug is still around.
